Last week I stumbled across a new iPhone accessory from the clever people at Beep Industries. They’ve designed an attachment that adds a camera button and grip like you used to have on pre-digital-revolution cameras making it easier to snap the perfect picture on your iPhone.
Within seconds of looking on the Red Pop website I decided I needed to get one and was then introduced to the world of Kickstarter. Kickstarter is a website that invites people to back new ideas and ventures by pledging an amount of money. This is fantastic way of reducing the burden of risk associated with bringing new products and ideas to market by testing potential uptake before committing to manufacturing expenses.
Each project has a target amount of money and a time-frame in which to raise it. Red Pop was only a day or so into its campaign and had already reached half the target backing – pretty amazing! I backed it with a pledge that guarantees me one of the first Red Pops to be manufactured and a couple of hours later the target was met only 2 days into the process!
Clear proof of a fantastic idea – proven using the power of the web and social media.
